Solo Double for Hickman

New Zealand flugel player Kevin Hickman, representing Sydney City Brass, claimed the prestigious 'Champion of Champions' solo title last weekend at the Australian National Championships in Newcastle, New South Wales. His outstanding rendition of the William Himes 'Flugel Concerto' meant that he also joined a very exclusive group of musicians to have been crowned 'Champion of Champions' in both New Zealand (2006) and Australia.

Adjudicator Dr Robert Childs described him as, "an incredible musician" stating to the audience that both he and fellow judge Andrew Snell were “unanimous in our thoughts".
