Foden’s Band Supports Youth

Foden’s Band has successfully delivered two fantastic initiatives aimed at developing talented young musicians.  The first project has been taking place over the past six months and was made possible thanks to a successful application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The funding secured helped  to identify 23 young people to work towards an 'Arts Award Explore.' This award is a recognised qualification through Trinity College London. Commenting on the delivery of the project a spokesperson from the band explained, “Following moderation, we are delighted that all the young people were successful with the moderator commenting that the “evidence was well presented and very detailed' as well as 'demonstrating knowledge, understanding, creativity and communication.” Thanks to all those who took part, as well as their parents or guardians, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Carole Crompton for submitting the funding application and David Hirst who acted as our advisor working closely with the youngsters over the past 6 months.”

The second project culminated on Tuesday and was a combined initiative between the band and its long-term collaborator Matt Ford. Matt is remarkable vocalist perhaps best known for his smooth delivery of swing classics. Supported by the Arts Council England and the Love Music Trust, nine wonderful young vocal talents participated in a workshop with Matt before taking to the stage to perform a Swing classic accompanied by the band at Congleton Town Hall. The band was delighted to take part stating, “It’s always a pleasure to support and nurture the future of music making in Cheshire - amazing talent!”
