In these evolving, modern times, where time never stands still, one can travel from northern England to London in just over two hours and fly to the other side of the world in just over a day. Something everyone takes for granted nowadays, but in the 1800s canals were one of the most efficient and practical ways to commute. What was it like travelling in those days? Nobody is alive to tell us of course and, whilst the waterways are still in use for a more leisurely way of life, the musical celebration of the bi-centenary of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal was a timeline from the past to the present of how life was on an artificial waterway, constructed to allow the passage of boats or ships inland, or to convey water for irrigation...
