Music: Do You Hear What I Hear?

Arranged by William Himes
Published by Triumphonic Productions - the Salvation Army Eastern Territory USA

William Himes offers a new arrangement of Gloria Shayne Baker’s Do You Hear What I Hear? Holding largely true to the original song in form and style, Himes adds embellishment in terms of scoring and dynamic ideally suited to the breadth of the brass band sound.

Being repetitive by nature, it becomes vital that any arrangement avoids tedium for the listener, and this it does successfully, cleverly developing through a variety of textural changes as the theme repeats.

Having the advantage of being accessible to most bands and the song being rarely heard in the brass band format, this arrangement will find favour among those looking for something different to add to the familiar Christmas repertoire.
