Concert: Canadian Brass and NYSB

Canadian Brass wows New York Staff Band Festival

The 130th Annual Festival (concert) of the New York Staff Band (NYSB), held in the beautiful West Side Presbyterian Church, was notable for several reasons.  

First of all any organisation that maintains such a high musical standard for such a long span is worthy of being celebrated; secondly, this is the first such event conducted by Bandmaster Derek Lance, who assumed the reins in September 2016 upon the retirement of Bandmaster Ronald Waiksnoris. Lastly this event, which over the years has featured many fine soloists and ensembles, was this year enhanced by the presence of the world-renowned Canadian Brass…
