Composer, Daniel Hall, takes a look at Life Songs and finds 'an entertaining traditional march for brass band'

This lively, bright march, composed by Stephen Bulla, is based upon a few Salvation Army hymns, notably Life is a song and God is still on the Throne.

The infectiously and memorable main themes are antiphonally passed around the ensemble throughout the composition, engaging the listener. The melodic material is also very simple, yet effective.

Suitable for any standard of musicians, the piece is scored to work even on a brass band half the size of the conventional norm.

If you’re searching for an entertaining traditional march for brass band to open your concert, then this composition is bound to get your audience tapping along!
