Composer, Daniel Hall, predicts great things for Thomas Scheibner's cornet solo
Thomas Scheibner’s arrangement for solo cornet is a lovely and warm slow melody that expresses the delicate and sweet timbre of the instrument.
Perfectly scored and balanced in the accompaniment, the soloist can easily sit on top of the ensemble at whatever dynamic and deliver long, expressive lines. The solo part is incredibly straightforward, which makes it great for younger or less experienced musicians to tackle, especially as a first solo with brass bands. I predict that this Bb cornet solo will be as popular in the brass band repertoire as Share my Yoke.
