Symphonic partnership for Birmingham Conservatoire

As part of its new Education Department plans to further develop partnerships across the UK, the Symphonic Brass of London has announced plans to work alongside Birmingham Conservatoire as part of their Learning and Participation programme.

Birmingham Conservatoire is one of the leading music academies in the country with world renowned cellist Prof Julian Lloyd Webber becoming the Principal in 2015. They are also currently preparing to move to a new state-of-the-art facility in Birmingham.

SBOL Head of Education Martin Heartfield stated, "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Birmingham Conservatoire, developing a range of educational projects and workshop activities. Working alongside their staff, students and organising events in their fantastic new facilities will add tremendous value to the projects we will be running with several music hubs in the future."

Richard Shrewsbury, Head of Learning and Participation, Birmingham Conservatoire added, "Symphonic Brass of London are a fantastic ensemble of some of the best UK brass players including members that teach at Birmingham Conservatoire, including our Head of Brass, Chris Houlding.

We are delighted that we can form a partnership together that will both add to the range of activities our brass students can access on our undergraduate and postgraduate courses here at the Conservatoire, and make a significant impact on young aspiring brass players in other areas of the country."
