Solo residency for horn star

Brassband Willebroek have announced the appointment of Tim De Maeseneer as 'Soloist in Residence' for the period 2016/2017. Willebroek's Musical Director, Frans Violet, is a former teacher of Tim's, and was keen to continue working with the Besson tenor horn artist following his appearance with Willebroek at the British Open Brass Band Championship last month.

Tim will appear as soloist with the band and is looking forward to the Orchestral Championship of the province of Antwerp, and the Belgian National Brass Band Championships. He told BBW: "Brassband Willebroek is a leading authority in the Belgian and European music scene, and I am really humbled by the offer to share the stage with them. A lot of the musicians and soloists of the band are good friends and people who I have always looked up to. This makes it very special to get this opportunity. I look forward to working with the entire horn section of Brassband Willebroek, and in particular the amazing Kristien Schuurmans - a Flugel player of the highest calibre.

Born in Vilvoorde Belgium, into a family of music enthusiasts, Tim started to learn the Tenor-horn at the age of six, and is now a graduate of the "University College of Arts" campus Lemmensinstituut Cum Laude.

As guest soloist Tim has performed with a number of different orchestras in Belgium and beyond, such as the "Symfonie Orkest Vlaanderen BE", The project Brass Band WDR (West Deutche Rundfunk Köln) DE, European Youth Brass Band EU, Atlantic Brass Band USA, Brass Band Buizingen & Noord-Limburgse Brass Band BE.

Having participated in a number of competitions, Tim has been awarded best tenor-horn on many occasions, and on behalf of the VLAMO Organisation, often gives guidance to different bands to help improve their horn sections.
