Geneva Group acquires Amati USA

Adding to its ever-growing portfolio, Geneva has acquired Amati USA on 73rd Street, New York, following several months of negotiation.

Tim Oldroyd, CEO and Founder of the Geneva Group, said he was pleased to return to the UK with Geneva’s latest acquisition and that negotiations had been successfully concluded in the first half of 2016, as planned. The acquisition follows hot-on-the-heels of the Geneva Group’s acquisition of the large factories of Amati Denak in Kraslice and VF Cerveny and Synové in Hradec Kralove, all in the Czech Republic and Tim Oldroyd commented: “The purchase of Amati USA was the final jewel in Geneva’s crown for 2016. VF Cerveny and Synové have been manufacturing musical instruments since 1842 and are world-renowned for their product excellence. The way is now open for Geneva to advance as a world-leader in musical instrument manufacture, and to promote new and existing products to secure a sustainable and healthy future.”

He added: “The USA purchase fitted perfectly with our business model and enables us to move forward with some very exciting new developments for the Geneva Group in 2017.”

Tomas Hadl will head Amati USA as CEO and Tim Oldroyd paid tribute: “Tom is one of the most driven people I have met over quite some time in business; he has so much drive and passion for the products under the Geneva Group, so he was the perfect candidate.”

Two of the aforementioned ‘”exciting developments” referred to by Tim are the new Amati Vantage and the Amati Heritage lines of brass and woodwind instruments.

Said Tim Oldroyd: “A lot of research and development has gone into the range, involving taking the most popular instruments that Amati produces and working with professional musicians, including those with the Royal Philharmonic and the London Symphony orchestras, to rigorously test and improve them. The result is an even higher quality of instrument in the lines, with upgraded features to ensure that both series are world-class.

“As with all our instruments, attention to detail is always central to our designs, and the new lines have hand-hammered bells and a new stainless steel valve system for piston-valved brass instruments. Woodwind instruments will benefit from improved bore sizes and key-work configuration, and we look forward to launching the lines to new and existing customers at NAMM trade show in Anaheim, California, in January 2017.”

Both ranges are currently only available to the American market.
