JHS ‘buzzing’
John Hornby Skewes and Co. Ltd. recently became the exclusive distributor for pBuzz - the latest educational plastic instrument
More eye-catching than a recorder, lighter than a drum and easier to play than a xylophone - the new brightly coloured, lightweight and smoothly-edged pBuzz (19.99 GBP rrp) makes music fun for early learners.
Offering a truly authentic experience of a proper mouthpiece, the pBuzz has a range of six notes through its moveable slide. The slide positions are outlined by colour, note name and also slide positions 1 - 6 so that children can learn in many ways, from traditional notation or the Orff colour system, to aid understanding of pitch and varying length.
Designed to widen the appeal of plastic instruments and engage a brand new market, pBuzz is exclusively distributed in the UK and ROI by John Hornby Skewes and Co. Ltd., and is the latest innovative venture from Warwick Music Group, whose successes include the world’s first plastic trombone, pBone, the pBone Mini, and the award-winning pTrumpet.
Research has shown that youngsters who have early exposure to musical instruments develop areas of the brain that relate to social, language and reasoning skills, as well as memory. The pBuzz can also help develop a child’s sensory and fine motor skills, encourage self-expression, stimulate imagination and creativity, build confidence and nurture their natural music talents.
Warwick Music Group CEO, Steven Greenall, said: “We are extremely excited about the pBuzz. It takes our musical brand mainstream. It’s a great introduction to brass instruments before advancing to a pTrumpet or pBone and is equally a great parent purchase for a magical playtime.”
He continued: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the response from our education contacts too. With pBone and pTrumpet firmly established as valued Key Stage 2 education resources, it’s great to know with pBuzz we have the perfect product for Key Stage 1 too!”
