Cory to feature at Welsh Proms

The Welsh Proms Cymru, Wales' national classical music festival, held annually at St David's Hall, Cardiff, have revealed the full programme of events for the festival's 31st season. Amongst grand scale performances of orchestral master works such as the Verdi Requiem and Holst's Planets, the Proms will again feature an evening of Brass & Voices with the Cory Band and massed male voices.

Speaking about the evening, Proms Artistic Director Owain Arwel Hughes CBE (pictured here) said, "This year the Proms will draw to Wales some of the UK's finest orchestras including our own Welsh National Opera Orchestra, together with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Bournemouth Symphony and London's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Here in Wales it is right & fitting that we feature alongside these an evening of Brass & Voices featuring Wales and the World's number one brass band, the Cory Band, and two of our finest male voice choirs".

Repertoire for the evening, which will be conducted by Hughes himself, includes Dvorak’s Carnival Overture, Baba Yaga and The Great Gate of Kiev as well as Howard Snell's masterful arrangement of Entry of the Gods into Valhalla.
