Smithills and Eagley join forces for good cause
Smithills School Senior Brass Band and Bolton’s Eagley Band are to give a Gala Concert in Bolton Parish Church on Saturday evening July 9th on behalf of Derian House Children’s Hospice.
The date and time of 7.30pm have been chosen especially to avoid clashing with local and global events (such as the Euros football) and with a huge, free car park at the church and a great concert guaranteed, the 600 seat church will be a great venue.
The programme will feature Knight Templar, Riverdance, Bohemian Rhapsody, MacArthur Park, Jubilation and many more audience favourites, with the 140-strong Smithills Community Choir singing Deep Harmony, accompanied by the combined bands.
Chris Wormald commented “As MD of Eagley Band from 1989 to 1998, we enjoyed great years and great success together and many current and former Smithills band members play in Eagley. Conductor Matt Ryan is a former Smithills musician of mine too and it will be an honour to join up and create something very special for Derian House Hospice.”
The concert will be the last to be given by Smithills and Chris before they travel to Ireland four days later for their twenty second concert tour abroad.
