Brighouse announces new Creative Team
The Brighouse and Rastrick Band has announced the exciting formation of a new ‘Creative and Artistic Team’, aimed at further enhancing the band’s musical direction and community engagement. The team will consist of three highly regarded professionals in the brass band world, led by the band's Professional Conductor, Professor David King.
Professor King recently celebrated his 15th year with B&R and is widely regarded as one of the most dynamic figures in the world of brass today. David has an enviable record of musical accomplishments and successes, and B&R are excited to extend the band's most successful period under his leadership.
Joining him is Dr David Thornton, who will serve as the Musical Director in Residence. David's reputation as a talented euphonium player, educator, and conductor makes him an invaluable addition to the team. His role will focus on developing the band’s repertoire and mentoring the musicians, ensuring that they continue to grow and excel in their craft.
Ian McElligott will take on the role of Arranger in Residence and Musical Consultant. With his proven track record of innovative arrangements, groundbreaking conceptual ideas, and a deep understanding of brass band music, Ian is poised to contribute significantly to the band’s artistic direction. His expertise will help in crafting unique performances that resonate with a diverse audience.
