Tredegar mourns tragic loss of Jonathan Bound
Tredegar Town Band has announced the sudden and unexpected passing of their 2nd baritone player Jonathan Bound.
Jon had been an integral part of the band’s success since 2007 and also played a vital role in the management of the band, guiding them with his financial knowledge and expertise in this time. He was equally at home liaising with local community matters as he was dealing with the band’s high profile projects.
More than this, Jon was a larger than life character within the band and made a huge impression on everyone he came in contact with. Musical director, Ian Porthouse has stated, “Jon was one of the first players I brought to the band in 2007 during a process of ‘rebuilding'. He quickly became much more than a valued player to us and his dedication and commitment to Tredegar Band is a huge loss. Not only this but we have all lost a great friend and I for one will always be grateful for his clear thinking in stressful situations. Jon always had the solution.”
Commenting on social media the band paid tribute stating, “Jon was exceptionally successful in his professional life but also the life and soul of the party and never happier than when performing on stage with the band. Especially if he was allowed free reign with a cow bell or the occasional vocal contribution! We will never forget how much he loved the band and how much the band loved him. Jon will be forever missed by Tredegar Band members past and present. He will be in our hearts and thoughts whenever we are together from rehearsal to performance.”
Sincere condolences to Jonathan's family and many friends at this sad time.
