New conducting team for Tullis Russell

Tullis Russell Mills Band has announced a new conducting team. John-Luke Harris is the band’s new professional conductor and Ross Donaldson takes up the baton as the new resident conductor.

John-Luke is Director of Music at the University of Dundee and Associate Tutor of trumpet at the University of St Andrews Music Centre. He comes to the band with a wealth of knowledge and experience following his graduation from the Royal Northern College of Music. A true brass bander, he’s a former principal of the Pemberton Old Wigan DW Band.

Ross is a current student at St Andrews University where he plays an active role with the symphony and chamber orchestras. He’s looking forward to nurturing the band’s strong connections with the town’s music scene.

Tullis Russell and its new conductors have a busy 12 months ahead of them as the band plays for its local community events, including the Thornton Christmas lights switch-on, the Langtoun Jazz Festival and the East Neuk Arts Festival. “This new chapter for the band is not just about change,” said secretary Joy Smith. “It’s about embracing the opportunities of what’s to come. Our audiences can expect to hear a reinvigorated sound, full of life and energy, as we continue to evolve and redefine who we are as a band.”
