Exciting Opportunities at RNCM Young Projects

The RNCM Young Projects are back for the new academic year. The free workshops are an exciting opportunity for young musicians (ages 8-18) to develop creative, musical and technical skills. The series is open to young people with at least one year of playing experience. The workshops are a chance to meet other players and receive expert tuition and advice with lots of playing. Workshops will be taking place on Sundays from 10am-1pm.

Katharine, Duchess of Kent endorsed the initiative stating, “RNCM Engage is a programme of such excellence that it has the potential to make a huge impact on the improvement of music provision and performance not only across Greater Manchester but also the entire North West. It is a credit to the College that such an initiative exists and we hope that this constructive example of creativity will inspire countless students across the country to follow suit and 'engage' in the same manner with communities in every corner of the UK!”

Tuba soloist and clinician Les Neish explained one of the exciting projects in store for the Lower Brass specialists, “RNCM Young Projects are back for this year and I’d urge anyone to sign up for this fabulous opportunity. RNCM Lower Young Brass will consist of Tubas, Euphoniums, Baritones and Tenor Horns and for this year I have commissioned the fabulous Alan Fernie to write to compose a piece for us to work on throughout the year. He has completed the first two movements of his Four seasons, one for each session. By the end of the year, we will also be able to give it a world premiere performance too!
