Have your say on the future of the Brass Bands Archive

The Brass Bands Archive is the world’s largest archive dedicated to preserving global brass band heritage. Having begun life as one family’s collection of brass band material, the Brass Band Archive was formally established in the 1970s. It is now in the care of Brass Bands England and is housed at Heritage Quay, the University of Huddersfield’s archive service.

In summer 2022, BBE surveyed members and the wider brass band sector to help understand who would use the archive and why. Two years later, they're looking to deepen their understanding on how people might access and engage with the collection. Whether you answered the survey in 2022 or not, BBE want to hear from you.

Chief Operating Officer Sarah Baumann explained, “Your help in completing this short survey is invaluable - it helps us inform our next phase of work as well as supporting our ask to funders to continue preserving and sharing brass band heritage.”

The archive survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, and you will also have the opportunity to participate in a follow-up focus group, should you wish to. Please complete the survey by Monday 23 September.
