Amazing Day of Celebration at Woodfalls
Woodfalls recently celebrated its 150th anniversary with a day of amazing music making. The British weather played its part and helped create a fantastic atmosphere in the village. The day began in the bandroom at 10am, moving on to the beautiful church service at 11, followed by a spirited march through the village and concluding with an unforgettable concert with 60 talented players.
A spokesperson from the band explained, “From our nostalgic exhibition at the band hall to the sentimental service at St. Birinus Church Together- St Mary's, St Birinus and Woodfalls Methodist Churches, the energetic Village March, and the unforgettable Picnic in the Park Concert, it was a day filled with music making, history and unity. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, especially our incredible musicians, past and present. Special thanks to David Hayward and Alan Gifford for their brilliant conducting and to David for doing an amazing job as our event compere. You both made the day truly special!”
The band also paid tribute to the Redlynch Social Club and their staff for hosting the event and to all the road marshals and Redlynch Parish Council who helped close the road for the march. In a statement on social media the band stated, “Here’s to celebrating 150 more years of the Woodfalls Band! We were surrounded by fantastic music, wonderful memories, and so much community spirit. It was a day to remember!”
