Celebrating 20 years of the Children's Band

The National Children’s Band began its summer residential at Stonyhurst College on the weekend. Beginning with seating auditions and a special welcome assembly on Sunday, the young players were quickly moved into rehearsal with Guest Conductor Lynda Nicholson, an NYBBGB alumna who also conducted the Children’s Band’s first course.

A fabulous team of tutors and staff are also working hard in sectionals to help the talented youngsters get to grips with the challenging programme as well as ensuring they have plenty of ‘down time’ where they have been making the most of the fantastic weather.  A spokesperson for the organisation commented on the terrific start to the 20th anniversary course “Congratulations to all the young musicians on their auditions - you have all done yourselves incredibly proud and we are SO excited to see what fabulous music-making that this week will hold!”

The course will conclude with a special celebratory concert at the Martin Harris Centre at 2pm on Friday 2nd August. The Children's Band and Lynda will be joined by Guest Soloist Daniel Marsh (tenor horn), himself an NYBBGB alumni and winner of the Mortimer Prize in 2023.
