BIC Tickets now on Sale
It’s time to secure the best seats in the house, as tickets for the Brass in Concert Championships 2024 are now on sale. The iconic event returns once more to The Glasshouse International Centre for Music from Saturday 16 - Sunday 17 November, for a weekend of the best in brass.
This year’s event kicks off with the flagship Brass in Concert Championship, the world’s premiere brass entertainment contest which is now in its 47th year. This year’s bands are: Aldbourne, Brighouse and Rastrick, Carlton Main Frickley Colliery, The Cooperation Band, Cory, Flowers, Fodens, The GUS Band, Hammonds, Krohnengen, and Tredegar. The day will be hosted by the inimitable and evergreen Frank Renton, a living legend among brass bands. Brass in Concert has the largest prize pot of UK-based banding competitions. Alongside judging from the adjudication panel (who will be announced soon), the audience once more has the chance to have their say with the special Audience Vote. Whether you’re a longtime brass fan or a newbie, Brass in Concert is not to be missed!
Youth Brass in Concert makes its much-anticipated return on Sunday 17 November. Over the course of the day, audiences will have the opportunity to hear from eight of the very best youth bands in the country, including the current champions from this year’s National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain (also known as Youth Champs). The bands are: Elland Youth Band, Houghton Area Youth Brass Band, Lancashire Youth Brass Band, Lions Brass Band, Macclesfield Youth Brass Band, Seindorf Beaumaris Youth Band, Wardle Academy, and Youth Brass 2000. On the return of Youth Brass in Concert, Brass in Concert CEO Nigel Stevens commented: “After trialling the return of youth elements through our Aspire programme, we see that now is the time to bring back the youth competition. We’re delighted that each band accepted the invitation to attend - all are at the top of their game, and we can’t wait to see the creativity of their performances.” With more youth organisations taking part in the event than ever before, Youth Brass in Concert will be a true celebration of banding and an excellent opportunity to witness the talent of the next generation of players.
The music isn’t solely on the Sage One stage; the Brass in Concert Championship 2024 will be bookended by performances to keep the atmosphere alive throughout the day. The Lancaster University Brass Band, winners of this year’s Shield Section at the UniBrass Contest, kick off the day with pre-show entertainment on the Concourse at 10am for a 45 minute performance. Backstage Brass returns as the after-party band, and will strike up its first notes immediately after the conclusion of band number 11. All players and ticket holders will have the opportunity to stay in the Concourse area of The Glasshouse for entertainment provided by the brass ensemble, which will perform a range of classic and modern tunes throughout the evening.
