2025 Youth Champs Entry is Open
Entry for the National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain 2025, known as Youth Champs, is now open to all youth bands wishing to take part. The event will take place at Hymers College in Hull on Saturday 29 March 2025. Participation is open to youth bands of all levels in both competitive and non-competitive sections. The 2025 event will also see the return of a set test-piece being used in the Championship Section. The new and specially commissioned work is by celebrated brass band composer Phillip Sparke and is titled “Fanfares, Songs and Dances”.
Jess Wilson, BBE’s Events Manager, commented, “We’re delighted to bring the Youth Champs back up north, continuing the successful campaign of moving the event around the country. Hymers College is the perfect venue to perform in and experience the joy of Youth Champs, with two great concert halls, excellent warm-up facilities, and plenty of spaces for educational activity and socialising. To bring back the Championship Section set-work is also really significant to the event, and what better way to reintroduce this than a brand new commission from Philip Sparke - we can’t wait to hear the UK contesting première performance!”
The closing date for registrations is set for 4 December, earlier than proceeding years, in order to enable the organising team sufficient time to plan contest logistics. Organisers would also like to remind band leaders that the Showcase Section is open to bands of all shapes, sizes and experience levels to perform in a non-competitive environment.
A Pre-Entry Pack, which outlines the aims and rules of the contest, is now available to download from the Youth Champs information page: https://www.bbe.org.uk/what-we-do/national-youth-brass-band-championships
