St Ronan’s offers Free Band Camp

St Ronan’s Silver Band is running its third free band camp in July. The three-day event will include sessions for brass and percussionists of all levels, as well workshops for a new recruit pBuzz class.

Running from 2nd – 4th July in the Church of Scotland, Leithen Road, Innerleithen EH44 6HX, the repertoire and activities will be designed by the experienced team of tutors to meet the needs of the young players.

The pBuzz project is for children in P2 to 5 who would like to start playing a brass instrument. “The pBuzz is designed to capture the musical interest of children and teach them the basics of playing a brass instrument in a fun and exciting way,” says course director Keith Belleville. “It is really a simplified version of a trombone in that it uses the same size mouthpiece and has a moveable tube to change the notes. Great fun!”

All the sessions below are free and open to all.

Enrolment of children and young people for the course can be made online here.

Sponsors of this event to date include the Scottish Brass Band Association, Peeblesshire Abbeyfield Trust, the Borders Youth Support Scheme and the Vale of Leithen Social Club.
