Contest Controllers’ Forum

The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) has announced the inauguration of a Contest Controllers’ Forum with the aim of engaging with all interested contest organisers and relevant organisations to have open and transparent dialogue regarding all aspects relevant to adjudication and contest organisation.

One of the primary objectives of the forum will be to encourage consistency of approaches and information for bands across all contexts. Additionally, the forum will provide a vehicle for contest organisers to share best practices, including (but not limited to), the engagement of adjudicators; pre, during and post contest contracts, organisation and feedback; things to be encouraged alongside things which haven’t quite worked; suggestions to AoBBA for improvement; suggestions from AoBBA for improvement.

Speaking of the new forum, AoBBA’s Vice-Chair Martin Heartfield commente,: “In launching our new Contest Controllers’ Forum, we hope to provide a platform for contest organisers and relevant organisations to come together and share best practice. We very much value and acknowledge the importance of working together with others and hope the forum will be a positive force within the banding movement.”

The forum’s first meeting will take place online on Saturday 22nd June with AoBBA sending invitations out in the next few weeks. Alongside this, all interested parties can also register their interest by contacting Nicholas Garman (Secretary) via email: nicholasgarman@hotmail.com
