EBBC Gala Concert

The local organiser of the EBBC 2024, Palangos Orkestras, has announced the details of what promises to be an entertaining Gala Concert with both a local and international flavour. Palanga Wind Orchestra, European Youth Brass Band and the Cory Band will all take part in the concert.

The fantastic European Youth Brass Band will be joining forces with Cory Band from Wales to present an exclusive Lithuanian performance of Cory's ‘King Kong’ show, all under the baton of Philip Harper in a spectacular and immersive brass band experience. A spokesperson for the event enthused about the line up: “The Cory Band is one of the most successful brass bands in modern times, and has been the No.1 ranked brass band in the World for countless years. Cory regularly wins both domestic and international brass band competitions and performs a widely varied repertoire of music at home and abroad to a professional standard.

“European Youth Brass Band 2024 version will contain 36 players from 14 European countries. They will come toghether for the first time a week before the Gala Concert. Both bands will also play a short individual part in the concert, before the award ceremony will follow."

The EBBC 2024 Gala concert will be opened by a special Lithuanian part, ‘Amber Wind’, which will reflect the musical traditions of Lithuania: from the aristocratic orchestral music concerts in the parks of Palanga, which continues for the second century, to the 100th anniversary of the Lithuanian Song Festival. Performance ‘Amber Wind’, curated by the renowned Lithuanian event producer, director and scenic designer Dalius Abaris, will echo of the unity, joy and celebration of the Lithuanian people of today - from the seaside of Palanga to the historic villages of the Aukštaitija region, from the valleys of the river Nemunas to the towers of big cities. ‘Amber wind’ will be performed by the Palanga Wind Orchestra under the direction of conductor Vygantas Rekašius.

The concert starts at 20:30 in the Palanga Concert Hall 4 May 2024.
