New Principal Cornet at Faireys

The WFEL Fairey Band has announced the signing of Iain Culross on Principal Cornet. Originally from Dundee, Iain holds a BA (Hons) degree and MA in Music Performance from the University of Salford and has travelled internationally as a soloist, conductor, and clinician, as well as serving as a tutor for the National Youth Brass Bands of Scotland, Wales, and Great Britain.

Iain returns as principal cornet of the WFEL Fairey Band following a highly successful tenure with the band in 2010-2011, having previously played principal with bands such as Grimethorpe, Leyland, Sellers, YBS/Hammonds, and Carlton Main. Iain is also a former member and principal cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland.

Iain's first engagement as principal cornet was at the RNCM for the band’s recent exclusive premiere of ‘Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas’. Commenting on his re-appointment Iain stated, “I’m delighted to be returning to the Fairey Band at what is a really exciting time for the band with many innovative projects in the works, and look forward to working with Phil and the band.”
