Brass in Concert visits schools across the North East

Last week saw Helen Minshall, Youth Development Brass Specialist, from Brass Bands England visit seven schools throughout the North East of England. Brass workshops were delivered as part of the Brass in Concert Aspire programme, which culminated in a day at The Glasshouse yesterday (Friday 17th November) and a performance on the Sage 1 stage.

The workshops were a huge hit with the children, preparing a wide variety of music with some well known tunes. The 280 students created a performance showcasing their hard work, using instruments varying from cornets to jHorns - everyone was included to have fun and be inspired!

Helen commented: “The energy and enthusiasm of the children was inspiring and it was a great joy to see the fantastic brass tuition in every school, giving so many young people the opportunity to learn brass.”
