IBBSS says Aurevoir for 2023

The International Brass Band Summer School bid a fond farewell to over a hundred delegates from around the world following its extremely successful summer residential at Swansea University. This year the course was joined by almost 30 delegates from Switzerland and ten from Canada, giving the course a truly international flavour. In addition to the Gala Concert on Friday 4th August, the course also featured a Brass in Concert Day, Ensembles Day, celebrations of Swiss National and Yorkshire Day as well as plenty of rehearsing under the direction of the MD and his team of talented tutors. Such was the enjoyment of those involved that places are already being booked for 2024. Course Director Professor Nicholas Childs commented, "It's been a great week. My thanks got to the university, the course sponsors and my great team of tutors and backroom staff, but most of all it goes to the players. There is nothing quite like getting people to perform together, meeting old friends and creating new ones. That's the ethos of the IBBSS — and one which we are determined to develop and enhance every year."
