GUS to Celebrate in Style

GUS Band will be marking its 90th Anniversary with a celebratory concert on September 24th at Northampton High School Theatre. In addition to hearing the current band, the concert will also feature a special Reunion Band comprising over 50 past players and no fewer than four stellar guest soloists. The soloists, who need little introduction to brass band aficionados, include former GUS players James and Thomas Fountain, principal trumpets of the London Symphony Orchestra and BBC Philharmonic Orchestra respectively. Also joining the band as featured soloists will be BBC Young Musician of the Year 2022, percussionist Jordan Ashman and renowned euphonium soloist David Thornton.

Numerous events, projects and initiatives have already marked the anniversary, but the concert will form the centrepiece with a spokesperson for the band stating, “We're very excited for The GUS Band 90th Anniversary Celebration Concert. As well as being an amazing opportunity for those connected with the band either from the past or the present to perform and spend time together as both the current and reunion bands take to the stage, it will also feature four world-class soloists.”

There's still time to sign-up to play in the reunion band if you're a former player. Email info@thegusband.com for more information. Tickets for the concert are available at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/thegusband  The first 100 tickets purchased will receive a £5 discount.
