Selkirk Silver plays for the Royals
Thursday 6th July will remain etched in the memories of Selkirk Silver Band members following their participation in a very special Royal engagement. The band was extremely honoured to play for HM King Charles III and Queen Camilla on their visit to the Royal and Ancient Burgh of Selkirk.
The musicians entertained the large gathering prior to the Royals’ arrival with some crowd-pleasing pieces. Before the King and Queen departed in their car, they took time to meet conductor Colin Kemp and thank the band, congratulating them on becoming Scottish champions. There was also some band banter thrown in with one band member stating, “Who knew that King Charles would know what an embouchure is? This was one engagement that was thoroughly enjoyed by the Selkirk players, and it is certainly one for the band’s history books.”
