Grimethorpe announces Semi-Final Composers

 

Grimethorpe Colliery Band has announced that it has been absolutely overwhelmed with the number and quality of compositions that it’s received for the band’s first annual Composition Competition. A spokesperson for the band stated, “We've received 105 entries from all over the world and are delighted that this means there are 105 new compositions that have been written for Brass Band. We've decided to shortlist 17 entries for the next stage of the competition as semi-finalists. These Compositions will be judged by our two Composers in Association, Dr Liz Lane and Dr Jack Stamp.”

Five pieces will then be shortlisted to be performed by Grimethorpe Colliery Band at a rehearsal before the band announces and performs the winning pieces at a concert as part of the Barnsley "Brassed On!" festival on Saturday 15th July.
