Flixton Wins Blackburn & Darwen
The Flixton Band was victorious at the Blackburn & Darwen March & Hymn Tune last weekend. With 19 competitors, fantastic organisation and generous prizes the event was a tremendous success. Through the pouring rain, Flixton put on a great display of the march ‘Mephistopheles’ and a beautiful hymn tune rendition under the direction of Matt Ryan the band was awarded the top prize.
A spokesperson for the contest stated, “Thanks to everyone who came to our contest; there was plenty of great playing from all bands. Our thanks too also go to Darwen Town Council for their support and to the Mayors of Blackburn and Darwen for presenting the prizes. Big thanks also to Russell Gray for taking time form his busy schedule to adjudicate the event.”
