German Open Contest

The German Open Contest will take place over the weekend of Friday 20 to Sunday 22 October. The event, in Warstein-Belecke, is a collaboration between the German Brass Band Association and the International Brass Festival Sauerland-Herbst in a now well-established format and with an attractive supporting programme.

The competition features three sections: A for Championship bands (also open to 1st Section bands), B for 1st/2nd Section bands (also open to 3rd/4th Section bands) and C for 3rd/4th Section and Youth bands. Bands will play before an internationally-renowned jury who will judge an own-choice programme of music from each entrant (see competition rules). This year’s adjudicators are festival director Prof Thomas Clamor (Germany), Bertrand Moren (Switzerland) and Andrea Price (UK).

The contest is open to all international brassbands. There are attractive prizes on offer together with special prizes, as well as a gala concert by the renowned German Champion, 3BA Concert Band, which rounds off this special weekend in the picturesque Sauerland.
