Linz to Host 2026 European
Linz in Austria has been elected as the host city for the European Brass Band Championships in 2026. This was unanimously decided after a presentation of Linz' candidature at the European Brass Band Association's Annual General Meeting in Malmö on Sunday 7 May.
Ulf Rosenberg, EBBA President explained, “Linz and the region of Upper Austria hosted a very successful EBBC in 2010. I trust that the European bands and audiences are looking forward to again visiting the beautiful city and iconic Brucknerhaus concert hall right at the banks of Danube. We will now conduct the final rounds to agree on a formal contract with the organisers in Linz.”
Manuel Höfer and Philipp Haider from the Cultural Department of the federal state of Upper Austria presented Linz at the meeting stating, “We appreciate the opportunity we have been given to present Linz and Upper Austria as a candidate host venue for EBBC in 2026. And we are honoured to have been elected by the EBBA country delegates to start with the final negotiations with EBBA. This European event has the power to unite people with the power of music, and we look forward to seeing them all in Linz.”
At the General Meeting the EBBA president since 2007, Ulf Rosenberg, was unanimously re-elected as the organisation's president for the next four years. Commenting on his reappointment Ulf stated, “I am thankful for the country delegates’ and fellow Executive Committee members’ trust and confidence and will continue to develop the organisation and the EBBC for future years. We are now looking forward to EBBC next year in Palanga, Lithuania, Stavanger, Norway in 2025, and Linz in Austria for 2026.”.
EBBA has also been approached by other cities, countries and organisations who want to be candidates for future years.
