Culture Award for Willebroek

 

Belgian heavy-weight Brass Band Willebroek has awarded a Flemish Ultima Award for Culture. The Ultima Awards recognise people, organisations and companies that excel in 13 different area of the arts and culture sector with the awarding body stating that the band has "an established name at the highest international level an amateur orchestra can achieve. The jury agrees that their projects make a valuable contribution to the cultural sector and are an example in their selflessness for other initiatives."

Brass Band Willebroek was founded by Frans Violet in 1979 and has has become one of the brass band world's leading ensembles. Twice World Champion, three times European Champion and 22 times Belgian Champion, they now support a flourishing youth band and Academy, solo competition as well as concert performances.
