Scottish Challenge to allow own-choice for 3rd and 4th Section

Due to the limited choice of music by Gilbert Vinter for 3rd and 4th Section bands, the Scottish Brass Band Association has revised its decision that all bands entering the Scottish Challenge in November will be required to play his compositions.

The contest organisers have now conceded that bands in the lower two sections will be able to play own-choice pieces, including, if they wish, Vinter music, although the requirement for 1st and 2nd Section bands to play works by the celebrated composer will remain.

Entry forms can be downloaded here or from contest controller Peter Fraser at fraserp3@virginmedia.com

The contest will take place as usual in Perth Concert Hall. Details of the Scottish Open on Saturday 25 November and the Scottish Youth Championships on Sunday 26 November will follow in due course.
