SBBA receives funding boost from Creative Scotland

The Scottish Brass Band Association is celebrating a very happy Easter, having heard the news that it is to receive £70,000 funding from Creative Scotland under the Youth Music Initiative (YMI) for 2023/24. The grant will enable SBBA to continue its youth music activities for the next 12 months, particularly with the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS). A delighted Carrie Boax, SBBA president, stated, “We are thrilled to receive, once again, another tranche of funding from Creative Scotland, for which we are very grateful. Thanks to everyone who has contributed and supported SBBA’s work in this area of the organisation.”

SBBA is among more than 60 groups to receive funding in this latest round for working with young people initiatives, including the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland, the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland and the National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCOS). Carrie added, “YMI funding has been, and continues to be, vital to SBBA's success over recent years and it underpins our commitment to enable as many youngsters as possible to engage, experience and enjoy brass band music making."
