2023 ConsTest Birmingham Open

The inaugural ConsTest Birmingham Open, organised by Contest Director Mikey Foley-Hall, took place this weekend and was won in impressive fashion by SPAL Sovereign Brass. Adjudicators Alan Morrison and Ian Porthouse were quick to congratulate the winners on the band’s performance of George Lloyd’s ‘Diversion on a Bass Theme’ stating, “Wow, what a performance”. They were equally effusive in their praise of Mikey Foley-Hall, the Flowers cornet player, who organised such a successful event as part of the requirements of the final year of his degree. Commenting on the day the innovative student explained, “I thought this contest was a good idea, but I never believed it would turn out like this today.

I can't thank everyone enough. Banding is in my blood, so it was great to put on an event that brought people together and showed off just how good it can be.” Full results can be viewed below:
