BBCA Conducting Opportunities

The Brass Band Conductors’ Association’s annual flagship conducting competition remains open for entries until 13 April. As part of his prize, last year’s winner, Boris Oppliger, had the amazing experience of conducting the Foden’s Band in their pre-Nationals concert at the Regent Hall, London (pictured).  Boris also spent time with BBCA President Russell Gray, preparing Foden’s for their winning Nationals title, and took away £200, a glass plaque and a year’s free membership of the BBCA.

Entrants want a chance at securing a similar experience are required to send in videos of themselves conducting by 13 April to be shortlisted for the semi-final where they will be adjudicated conducting the Hammonds Band at Eccles Town Hall on 17 June. If they reach the final six they are judged conducting the Eccles Borough Band in the Gala Concert.  All BBCA members will receive feedback on their entries.

Competition entry is open to all but is discounted for BBCA members. The BBCA is grateful to Yamaha for their sponsorship of this event. Further information can be found via the following link: https://www.bbe.org.uk/news18012023-1340/bbca-2023-conducting-competition-now-open or by emailing bbca@bbe.org.uk
