Stewart covers Solo Trombone at Wantage

As Wantage start preparing Wilby’s ‘Red Priest’ for this year’s London and Southern Counties Regional Championships in March, they are joined by trombonist Scott Stewart who temporarily fills the Solo Trombone seat whilst Mike Wallbridge takes some time away for parent duties over the next few months.

The Musical Director of Andover Town Band and former Principal Trombone of Woodfalls Band has many years of experience performing at the highest level and the team at Wantage are delighted to benefit from his expertise. Scott competed with the band before Christmas at both Wychavon and LBBA Contest and is enjoying being part of the band. Scott commented, “It's been great to have an opportunity with Wantage, under Paul's direction, to pick up my trombone again and balance playing with conducting responsibilities. I'm looking forward to keeping the seat warm for Mike's return and to my first foray into the London and Southern Counties."

Professional Musical Director of Wantage Band, Paul Holland adds “I'm extremely grateful to Scott helping out Wantage these past months. He was an asset to our fine performance in Wychavon last November and I am sure he will be integral to our performance of Red Priest.”
