2022 Swiss National Championships

Brass Band Treize Etoiles claimed the Swiss National title in Montreux last weekend in convincing style. The band and its Musical Director Frederic Theodoloz wowed the adjudicating panel of Dr Robert Childs, Kevin Houben and Anne van den Berg with its quality performance of the set work, ‘St Magnus’ by Kenneth Downie. Valaisia were placed second and Brass Band Berner Oberland came third. It was the consistency over both components of the contest that saw Treize Etoiles take the title though, with judges Martin Ellerby, Jan van der Roost and Klaas van der Woude placing them second in the own-choice, just behind Brass Band Burgermusik Luzern. This catapulted BB BUrgermusik Luzern into second place overall with the reigning champions, Valaisia having to settle for third. Brass Band Treize Etoiles, by virtue of the win, will also be invited to take part in the 2023 European Brass Band Championships in Malmo.

Congratulations are also in order for Emmental, Kirchenmusik Fluhli, Berner Oberland Junior, Gurbetal and Entlebucher Jugend Brass Band, the winners of their respective sections. Full results can be viewed below:
