New Principal Cornet At WFEL Fairey

WFEL Fairey Band has announced Kyle Lawson as the band’s new Principal Cornet. Born in New Zealand, Kyle has previously held the position of principal cornet for the Brighouse and Rastrick band, as well as sitting principal cornet for the New Zealand Army Band. Kyle completed a Bachelors in Musical Arts at the University of Salford Manchester in 2020, graduating with a first-class honours. 

Musical Director Adam Cooke commented: “I’m delighted that Kyle has joined us at WFEL Faireys. As a top-class soloist, and experienced principal player, he’s the perfect appointment to lead the band into our forthcoming projects and contests.”

Kyle added: “I am excited to return to the UK after spending the last two years with the New Zealand Army Band. I am also thrilled to be Joining the WFEL Fairey Band and I look forward to what the future holds"
