Dutch Open Brass Band Championships Cancelled

The organizers of the Dutch Open Brass Band Championships, due to take place on Saturday June 12, have decided to cancel the championships. However, as restrictions start to ease the organisation will arrange an online brass festival under the DOBC name instead.

The festival will take place in concert hall De Oosterpoort/ SPOT Groningen. Currently, there are government restrictions for organizing events and for the number of visitors allowed. For this reason this event will be held largely online.

Brasspass.tv will provide the online live streaming service, broadcasting interviews and streaming of performances. Performances will be introduced and discussed by expert studio guests from the brass band scene. In addition to the livestream Brasspass.tv is planning to produce two programmes about the musical life in Groningen and the international brass scene.

The Groningen Brass Experience was planned to be held in the same weekend as DOBC. This new festival was developed in conjunction with DOBC with concerts by young talents as well as international brass ensembles. Unfortunately, due to the current situation, the organisation has decided to postpone this festival till next year.
