Clarke Premier to feature at the Midwest Clinic

The Midwest Clinic brings together music directors into contact with the latest products and services available to them, along with reviewing trends and future topics in the business and music education. This year is the 73rd conference and takes place over four days on December 18-21 at McCormick Place West in Chicago. More than 17,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 30 countries will be in attendance.

Of particular interest for brass aficionados are the Boston Brass and New Chicago Brass chamber ensemble concerts, taking place at 6pm 19th December and 4.30pm 20th December Respectively. Grand Symphonic Winds will also be performing on Friday 20th where the comminuty band will give the official premiere performance of Nigel Clarke’s ‘La Fleur en Papier Dore’ (The golden paper flower). Nigel is well known to the brass and wind band community for such ground breaking works as, 'The City in the Sea', 'Samurai' and 'Atlantic Toccata'.

Commenting on the event, composer Nigel Clarke stated, “A big thank you to Grand Symphonic Winds (GSW) and their MD Matthew George for the preview-premiere of ‘La Fleur en Papier Dore’ last weekend. The official premiere will be given at 1.30pm next Friday in the Skyline Ballroom W375E.”
