2019 National Championships of Great Britain: Section 2

Congratulations to South Yorkshire Police and conductor Leigh Baker as they took the final title on offer this weekend. The band was victorious in the Second Section and will no doubt be enjoying the journey back to the North as National Champions. The band’s performance of Edward Gregson’s ‘Occasion’ was universally enjoyed by the three adjudicators: Nicholas Garman, John Maines and Steve Sykes. Sam Fisher led Chapeltown Silver Prize to the bridesmaid spot with Sidmouth Town close behind in third place. Best Instrumentalist was awarded to Lizzie Logie who played flugel with sixth placed Besses Boys.
