2019 National Championships of Great Britain: Section 3

Uppermill and conductor Dean Redfern were victorious in section 3 of the National Brass Band Championships. The band played a terrific show of the set test ‘Viking Age’ by Thierry Deleuyelle beating Gareth Ritter’s Taff Vale into second place. The adjudicating panel of Philip Harper, Paul Holland and Melvin White had an unenviable job of separating the bands, but in spite of cornetist Duncan Broadley winning the Best Instrumentalist for Taff Vale it was a euphoric Uppermill who were announced as the winners. Poole Borough also put in a creditable performance under M.D. Lloyd Bartlett to make up the podium prizes.
