2019 Dr Martin Wainstones Cup

Congratulations to Reg Vardy and conductor John Roberts on a lucrative and convincing win, by an 8 point margin,  at the Dr Martin Wainstones Cup. Whilst other bands may have been pre-occupied with the British Open, Reg Vardy was busy impressing adjudicator Sandy Smith with a great performance of Peter Graham’s ‘Montage’and taking their prize fund to almost £30,000 as they racked up their sixth win since 2010. Vernon Building Society Poynton took the runner up spot with Elland Silver three points behind in third place.

Gillian Dixon a spokesperson for the winning band commented, "This is a great boost as we've now got a lot of new, young players in our ranks. The experience is still there, but they really stood up today brilliantly to help us reclaim a title that means a lot to us."
