Welsh National Eisteddfod hopes to welcome competing bands

The National Eisteddfod of Wales is hoping that it can attract a bumper crop of competitors to its televised brass band contests to be held in Llanrwst in Conway later this year. Brass Bands have played an important part of the event for over 140 years, with the various sections being enjoyed by live and television audiences thanks to the live broadcast on S4C.

The top section, featuring both Championship and First Section bands, requires bands to provide a 20 minute programme containing a minimum of three items as they compete to win the solid silver Cwpan Catrawd Tiriogaethwyr Sir Y Flint trophy and £750 first prize.

Winners of the Second, Third and Fourth Sections will collect £500 each in prize money.
Bands in those sections must provide a 15 minute programme including a minimum of three items.

The contest will be held on the weekend of the 3rdand 4thAugust 2019. Welsh bands wanting further information or wishing to enter are invited to contact: competitions@eisteddfod.org.uk
