Cory wins BIC 2018

Following a terrific inaugural Youth Brass in Concert Championships on Saturday, where Wardle High School under the direction of Lee Rigg were awarded the top honours by adjudicators Helen Harrelson and Richard Evans, the ‘main event’ on Sunday was another top quality and hotly contested affair.

Cory was unanimously judged by the Music Quality of Performance adjudicators to have produced the very best of the day with Terry Carter also awarding them top marks for entertainment. Second placings from Jeremy Wise and Programme Content adjudicator Chris King sealed the band’s resounding 16 point margin of victory over runners-up Carlton Main Frickley Colliery. Cory also picked up a brace of other awards including best flugel (Helen Williams), and the Don Lusher Trombone Award (Christopher Thomas) for their superb individual contributions.
