Inaugural Swiss Alto Horn Festival announced for 2019
The first ever Swiss Alto Horn Festival will be held in Saint-Maurice, Switzerland on 30 & 31 March 2019. Organised by Julien Roh, the weekend's tantalising programme of events will feature Scottish tenor horn star Sheona White in both a master class and recital. Other performances include a recital performance from Anthony Galinier and an inpressive Gala Concert with Arfon Owen and the Ensemble de Cuivres Valaisan.
These events will all take place in addition to a solo competition that has been separated into senior and junior categories. Both competitions will comprise of 3 rounds with competitors asked to perform the following repertoire:
UPPER CATEGORY (1st 1'000 CHF 2nd 700 CHF 3rd 400 CHF):
1st round - one piece from the following list: 'Masquerade' (Philip Sparke), 'Prélude et Burlesque' (Eddy Debons), 'Rhapsody for tenor horn' (Bram Wiggins) or 'September Fantasy' (Eric Ball)
2nd round - A new composition (Ludovic Neurohr)
Final - 'Sonatina' (Etienne Crausaz)
LOWER CATEGORY (1st 300 CHF 2nd 200 CHF 3rd 100 CHF):
1st round - one piece from the following list: 'Concertino' (Gareth Wood), 'Rhapsody for Soprano Cornet' (Robert Eaves), 'The Carousel' (Roy Newsome) or 'Episode' (Peter Graham)
2nd round - 'Variations on a Welsh Theme' (Peter Kneale)
Final - 'Prélude et Tarentelle' (Philippe Morard)
